Section 1
In order to qualify for any award, the rider and owner of each horse must be a Regular, Young and or Life member of the Corporation. The riders must be a member before the competitions for which scores are submitted in order to have these scores count toward awards. This is the responsibility of the rider and there will be no exceptions to this rule for any reason.

Section 2
Awards will be derived for all levels from results of Three Day Events, Two Day Events, and Horse Trials and Mini Events held in the United States.
Section 3
Points received toward yearend awards from scores at USEA and USEF recognized Horse Trials held with in the United States will be calculated and recorded as per the following rules:
Rider or owner must properly and fully complete the IDCTA awards form.
Score must have the signature of show secretary or organizer, or the USEA result summary from the USEA website may be submitted. If scores will not be on the website before the deadline, a signed report form must be submitted instead.
Award forms must be postmarked by Oct. 31st if mailed or received by the awards committee by Oct. 31st. NO exceptions!
Section 4
The show year begins on November 1st (or that weekend) of one year and ends on Oct. 31st (or that weekend) of the following year.
Section 5
It is the owner’s/rider’s responsibility to report his or her own scores.
Section 6
In the event that no qualified recipients for an awards category are presented to the awards committee then that awards category for that year will be deleted
Section 7
Recognized Combined Tests points will be awarded at half the value listed for a Horse Trial. (This includes horse trials that have to cancel one phase.) Unrecognized Combined tests will be awarded at half the value for a mini-event, and the points will count towards the mini-event division. For unrecognized combined test points to count, the rider must submit at least one qualified score from a mini-event.
Section 8
A rider who has ridden above the preliminary level in the 5 years prior to the current show season is not eligible to receive year end award recognition in the Beginner Novice, Novice or Mini Event categories. A rider that has ridden above the training level in the 5 years prior to the current show season is not eligible to receive award recognition at the Beginner Novice level or the Mini event level. Riders are not eligible for both mini event awards and recognized level awards in the same year.
Section 9
All members who wish to be eligible for year end awards mush volunteer a minimum of five (5) hours per calendar year at an IDCTA related activity or other sanctioned shows. The hours will be recorded by the member and must be signed by appropriate volunteer coordinator or show organizer. It is the member’s responsibility to forward the score report sheet published in the scribe to the applicable awards chairperson. Volunteer hours must be done by the rider. Hours must be completed and sent to the awards chairperson, postmarked by Oct. 31st of the award year.
Eventing Annual Awards
The Corporation shall present awards in each of the following categories:
Advanced Level - Champion, Reserve Champion, Third Place, Fourth Place, Fifth Place, and Sixth Place.
Intermediate Level - Champion, Reserve Champion, Third Place, Fourth Place, Fifth Place, and Sixth Place.
Preliminary Level - Champion, Reserve Champion, Third Place, Fourth Place, Fifth Place, and Sixth Place.
Training Level - Champion, Reserve Champion, Third Place, Fourth Place, Fifth Place, and Sixth Place.
Novice Level - Champion, Reserve Champion, Third Place, Fourth Place, Fifth Place, and Sixth Place.
Beginner Novice Level - Champion, Reserve Champion, Third Place, Fourth Place, Fifth Place, and Sixth Place.
Mini Event Level - Champion, Reserve Champion, Third Place, Fourth Place, Fifth Place, and Sixth Place.
Each of the above Categories will be divided into Open, Amateur, and Young Rider. A rider can qualify for Open or Amateur, but not both. To qualify as an amateur, you must be registered with the USEA or USEF as an amateur. At the mini event level, there will be no open division.
Beginner Novice Green Horse Award
This award is for horses with Beginner Novice scores that do not qualify for the Adult or Junior Beginner Novice Award because the rider is ineligible because he or she has ridden above the Training level in the past 5 years. The horse may qualify for other awards at the recognized level with another rider. The points earned at this level will not count towards horse of the year points or rider of the year points. This award is for the horse and not the rider, so the owner of the horse must also be a member of IDCTA at the time of the show. The horse may not have competed above the Novice level at any time.
Novice Green Horse Award
This award is for horses with Novice scores that do not qualify for the Adult or Junior Novice Award because the rider is ineligible because he or she has ridden above the Preliminary level in the past 5 years. The horse may qualify for other awards at the recognized level with another rider. The points earned at this level will not count towards horse of the year points or rider of the year points. This award is for the horse and not the rider, so the owner of the horse must also be a member of IDCTA at the time of the show. The horse may not have competed above Training level at any time.
High Point Horse Of The Year – Champion and Reserve Champion, Presented to the horses with the highest point totals for the year. Points from the Green horse awards do not count towards this award.
Young Rider Of The Year – Champion and Reserve Champion, Presented to the young riders with the highest point totals for the year. (Definition of a Young Rider per IDCTA by-laws).
Amateur Rider Of The Year – Champion and Reserve Champion, Presented to the adult amateur rider (age 22 to 39 years) with the highest point totals for the year. Amateur determined as per USEF rules. Points from the Green horse awards do not count towards this award.
Master Amateur Rider Of The Year – Champion and Reserve Champion, Presented to the master adult amateur rider (40 years of age and older) with the highest point totals for the year. Amateur determined as per USEF rules. Points from the Green horse awards do not count towards this award.
Low Score Champion – Presented to the Horse and Rider combination with the lowest score at each level. There must be at least two riders receiving awards in a division for this award to be given.
Definitions of Awards
Champion of a Level – Awarded to the horse/rider combination accumulating the most points at that level.
Reserve Champion of a Level – Awarded to the horse/rider combination accumulating the second highest points at that level.
Third Through Sixth Placing of a Level – Awarded to the horse/rider combinations accumulating the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth highest number of points at that level.
Horse Of The Year Award – Awarded to the horses having the highest and second highest total cumulative points from USEA and USEF/USEA recognized competitions from Beginner Novice through Advanced in accordance with the point system and rules. Riders must be IDCTA members at the time of the competitions for the results to count toward year end awards. Points are accumulated from the start date of membership. Points from the Green horse awards do not count towards this award.
